01 Wisp help
Wisp, answered.
The questions people ask most. Not here? Send it to support and you’ll get a reply from the person who wrote Wisp.
01 Why isn’t the ring in my recording or screen share?
That’s the point. The ring is drawn in a window macOS leaves out of every capture — screenshots, recordings, ScreenCaptureKit, and screen sharing — so your audience sees a clean screen. If you want viewers to see something, turn on keystroke display, which is captured by default.
02 The ring isn’t showing at all.
Open the Wisp menu in the menu bar and choose Show Ring, or press your ring shortcut. If Fade When Idle is on, the marker dims after a quiet spell — move the pointer and it comes straight back.
03 A shortcut stopped working.
Another app has probably claimed it. Rebind the ring and spotlight shortcuts in Settings; the recorder refuses a combination another app already owns.
04 Keystroke display shows nothing.
It needs Accessibility, because reading keys pressed in other apps is exactly what macOS gates. Turn it on in Settings › Keyboard, then allow Wisp in System Settings › Privacy & Security › Accessibility. Upgrading from 0.2.0 or earlier? macOS asks once more, since the app is now signed by its developer.
05 Do I have to register?
No. Registering is free and optional, and every feature works without it. Settings › Account › Register… signs you in on shafer.llc and hands the key back to Wisp; you can also paste the key from your account page.
06 I have a new Mac. How do I move my registration?
Register on the new Mac the same way. To drop an old Mac, remove it on your account page, or regenerate the key there — Macs still using the old key are unregistered at their next check.
07 How do I uninstall Wisp?
Quit it from the menu bar and drag Wisp from Applications to the Trash. Its settings live in ~/Library/Application Support/Wisp/ if you want those gone too.
