01 macOS app · 14-day free trial

Clean up your Mac. Everything goes to the Trash first.

Bilge finds system junk, large and duplicate files, similar photos and what uninstalled apps leave behind, maps where your space went, and moves only what you choose to the Trash — so anything it got wrong can be put back. Then it fixes the small things about macOS that bother you, one switch at a time.

Requirements

macOS 14+ · Apple Silicon & Intel · Full Disk Access recommended, so Mail, backups and the Trash can be measured

Trial, then $9.99 once

Everything works for 14 days. After that, scans, the menu bar readout, Speed and Put Back stay free; cleaning and the tweaks need a key. Yours to keep, no subscription.

Nothing silent

Signed with a Developer ID and notarized by Apple. No telemetry: the only network call is checking your license.

02 Cleaning

Find it, check it, Trash it — or put it back.

Only what rebuilds itself is checked for you. Everything else waits for your say, and Put Back (⌥⌘Z) undoes the last clean.

01

Smart Scan

Junk, duplicates, the Trash and memory in one pass, with one total and one Clean

02

System junk

App caches, logs, Xcode and simulator data, package caches, node_modules and other build folders

03

Large files

The biggest files in your home folder, filtered by size and age, with Quick Look

04

Space map

Every folder measured, as a list or a map of tiles sized by what they hold

05

Duplicates

Byte-for-byte copies; the oldest is kept and Bilge never removes every copy

06

Similar photos

Resized and re-saved copies and near-identical shots — never inside a Photos library

07

Uninstaller

An app plus what it left in your Library, sorted by when you last opened it

08

Speed

Apps by memory and idle time, Polish, and every login item — including the ones apps register themselves

03 Tweaks

Dozens of small fixes, each off until you want it.

Turn one on in Settings, and turning it off puts back exactly what it changed. Commands can live in the menu bar or get their own shortcut.

01

Finder

Cut and paste files, open with Return, Delete to Trash, paste an image as a file, new text file with ⌥N.

02

Windows & Dock

Green button fills the screen, click the Dock to hide an app, guard ⌘W and ⌘Q, Dock spacers.

03

Keyboard & apps

A Hyper key, launch any app with a shortcut, auto-quit apps you’ve left idle, install from DMGs.

04

Everything else

Capture text and QR codes from the screen, a color picker, Keep Awake, Cleaning Mode, audio and display toggles.

04 Detail

What Bilge leaves out, on purpose.

No malware scanner — macOS’s XProtect already does that. No file shredder — secure erase does nothing on an SSD. No stripping language files — that breaks apps’ code signatures. And nothing is ever deleted outright: the one exception, Empty Trash, asks first.

The Bilge app icon

Bilge (n.) — the lowest part of a ship’s hull, where everything that leaks in collects until someone pumps it out.

05 Install

A scan in under a minute.

  1. 01

    Download & drag

Open the DMG and drag Bilge onto the Applications folder beside it. The trial starts the first time you open it.

  2. 02

    Smart Scan

Run one scan for junk, duplicates and the Trash. Review any line, then Clean — everything goes to the Trash.

  3. 03

    Buy when you’re sure

Settings › License › Buy signs you in on shafer.llc, takes you through checkout, and hands the key straight back to Bilge.
